Air Noland Commits to Ohio State Over Clemson (Recruiting)

Clemson has missed on another quarterback target in the 2024 class.

Air Noland (Langston Hughes, Fairburn, Ga) announced a commitment to Ohio State on Saturday, choosing the Buckeyes over Clemson, Miami, Arkansas and Texas A&M. The 4-star prospect ranks No. 8 among all quarterbacks in the class and No. 84 overall in the 247 Composite.

The blue-chip talent threw for 4,095 yards and 55 TDs while leading Langston Hughes to its first state title last season.

This is a big-time recruiting flex by Ohio State. While the Buckeyes had been recruiting Noland since shortly after the decommitment of Dylan Raiola back in December, they did not officially offer until last weekend when Noland made his first visit to campus.

Clemson offered Noland back in March after an unofficial visit. However, they started recruiting him after missing on Walker White, who committed to Auburn back in February. Noland is the first quarterback to have picked up an offer from new offensive coordinator Garrett Riley.

In the 2024 cycle, the Tigers have also missed on DJ Lagway, who committed to Florida late last year and Jadyn Davis, who announced a verbal pledge to Michigan last week.

The question now becomes who will the coaches target next? With Cade Klubnik and Chris Vizzina both underclassmen and both former 5-star recruits, quarterback isn't a dire need in this class, but the staff does want to add a quality player at the position.

With Noland committing elsewhere, Clemson still sits at six commitments in the 2024 cycle, with TE Christian Bentancur and RB David Eziomume being the lone offensive players to have joined the class to date.
