Clemson Lands Commitment From Highly-Rated 4-Star RB Gideon Davidson

For the second consecutive recruiting cycle, C.J. Spiller has gotten his man early, as 4-star RB Gideon Davidson announced a commitment to Clemson on Wednesday.

The 4-star back, out of Liberty Christian (Lynchburg, Va.), is the Tigers’ first commitment for the 2025 recruiting class.

Davidson released a Top 10 in April that consisted of Clemson, Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Colorado, Oregon, Southern Cal, Tennessee, Iowa State and Penn State, but it was the Buckeyes and the Fighting Irish that the Tigers really beat out in the end.

“Clemson is one of the best programs in the country,” Davidson told All Clemson Tigers previously. “Academics are important. The PAW program is so cool. I think I fit the type of person and player they want.”

Spiller played a large role in Davidson’s recruitment, and landing the blue-chip back is another big-time get for the Tigers’ running backs coach. In March, 2024 4-star back David Eziomume committed to Clemson, meaning Spiller has gotten his back early in both cycles.

“I have a great relationship with him,” Davidson said. “I can relate really well with him. Also, he’s pretty much like what I want to be when I grow up. Be in a great college football program, then go to the NFL one day, hopefully, coach, and he’s done all that.”

Davidson just picked up his offer from the Tigers back on June 1 and he is the only 2025 running back with an offer. He was just on campus over the weekend, participating in Dabo Swinney’s high school camps.

Davidson ranks as the fourth best running back and No. 67 overall in the 247 Composite. He is the highest rated back the Tigers have landed since getting Will Shipley in 2021, and this commitment gets Clemson’s 2025 class off to a fantastic start.
