Clemson QB Cade Klubnik Thrilled to Showcase Tiger Offense

Cade Klubnik didn’t hang his head after making two huge mistakes that led to two touchdowns by opponent Charleston Southern on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

The Clemson quarterback bounced back from those errors to throw four touchdowns and 315 yards to lead the Tigers to a 66-17 victory. For him, it was a chance to show the Garrett Riley-led offense after too many turnovers and issues held the Tigers back in Week 1 at Duke, a 28-7 loss.

Clemson ran up 679 total yards and looked much better, going 7-of-8 in the red zone this week.

You got a glimpse of what the Clemson offense is really like,” Klubnik said after the win over CSU. “I think everybody saw it.”

Here’s what else the sophomore starter had to say:

  • Klubnik on rallying from an early 14-7 deficit. “We bounced back. The second quarter catapulted the team into the second half.”
  • Klubnik was “super happy” for Beaux Collins, who had a huge game.
  • Klubnik was pleased to see Brannon Spector, Troy Stellato, and tight end Josh Sapp make plays despite not being starters. “I’ve been seeing eliteness. They got to showcase it today.”
  • On red-zone success: “Just really proud of the way that we finished. If you’re going to drive all the way down the field might as well score.
  • Klubnik was proud of leaders stepping up and making plays.
