Garrett Riley, Noble Johnson (Jason Priester All Clemson)

CLEMSON< S.C.- The Clemson Tigers were back at practice on Wednesday, with the media being allowed in to watch the first 4.5 periods of action.

Offensive Observations

  • There was a lot of drill work during the viewing period today, and players were in full pads. Ball security for the quarterbacks and running backs was the focal point of one of the drills.
  • Cade Klubnik was sharp during the drills. He knows exactly where to go with the ball and delivers it with pinpoint accuracy. It appears he is soaking up everything Garret Riley is installing.
  • The tight ends spent time working on blocking. The order in which the reps were taken were Jake Briningstool, Sage Ennis and Josh Sapp. Although, Sapp has been taking some second team reps as well.
  • OL Dietrick Pennington looks to be slimmed down some. He is moving around extremely well. He was working mostly with the second team on Wednesday.
  • Freshman Ian Reed already looks the part. He was working some with the second team offensive line, as was fellow freshman Harris Sewell. The third first-year player on campus is Zach Owens, and he is a mountain of a man. He looks every bit of the 375 pounds Clemson has him listed as.
  • With Walker Parks and Marcus Tate both out, some of the younger guys are getting more opportunities. Thomas Austin is doing a lot of teaching. Seems to be a lot of mixing and matching going on early.
  • Beaux Collins was taking part in all of the drills during the viewing period, despite being in a yellow jersey. Collins will be limited during the spring, as he still recovers from that shoulder injury suffered last season.
  • Freshman wideout Noble Johnson is as smooth as silk. He gets in and out of his breaks effortlessly, and knows how to go up and high point the ball.
  • At running back, Will Shipley and Phil Mafah were taking the first and second team reps, followed by Dominique Thomas and Keith Adams Jr.

Quote of the week

“People ask me what I do in the winter when there’s no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.”
