Clemson aims to contend for both the ACC Championship and the National Championship when the season kicks off on Aug. 31. Here is how their first half of the season is expected to play out.
Week 1: Clemson Tigers vs. Georgia Bulldogs
On Aug. 31 the Clemson Tigers will battle the Georgia Bulldogs at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Bulldogs have won the National Championship in two of the last three seasons and narrowly missed the playoffs last season. Georgia is predicted to secure a tight win over Clemson, but this game will provide Clemson fans with hope for a positive season.
Record prediction after Week 1: 0-1
Week 2: Appalachian State vs. Clemson Tigers
Appalachian State is a dangerous team that some might overlook, but Clemson's offense and defensive line are going to dominate and secure a victory for the Tigers, in their home-opener of the 2024 season, on Sep. 7.
Record prediction after Week 2: 1-1
Week 4: North Carolina State vs. Clemson
After an early bye week, Clemson will face rival North Carolina State on Sep. 21, at home. Clemson's last loss of the previous season was against the Wolfpack, after which they won five straight games. With a more experienced quarterback and a revamped offensive line under new coach Matt Luke, the Tigers are predicted to win a close game.
Record prediction after Week 4: 2-1
Week 5: Stanford Cardinal's vs. Clemson Tigers
ACC newcomer Stanford will make their first trip to Death Valley, on Sep. 28. Coming off a 3-9 season in 2023, the Cardinal's have struggled in recent years and will likely have a tough time against Clemson. The Tigers are expected to win dominantly.
Record prediction after Week 5: 3-1
Week 6: Clemson Tigers vs. Florida State Seminoles
On Oct. 5 The Clemson Tigers will travel to Tallahassee to play Florida State in a game with significant ACC Championship implications. Coming off an overtime win against Clemson last season and a 13-win season, the Seminoles are predicted to be too much for the Tigers in a raucous Doak S. Campbell Stadium.
Record prediction after Week 6: 3-2
Week 7: Clemson Tigers vs. Wake Forest Demon Deacons
On Oct. 12, to close out the first half of the season, Clemson will travel to Winston-Salem to battle Wake Forest. After a 4-8 season and losing their last five games of 2023, Wake Forest is not expected to pose a threat to Clemson. The Tigers are predicted to secure another dominant win.
Record prediction after Week 7: 4-2
In the first half of their season, the Tigers will have faced their two most challenging games of 2024. Sitting at 4-2, Clemson still has a legitimate shot at making the College Football Playoff with the new expanded playoff format.
Stay tuned for part two on Monday, where we will predict Clemson's record in the second half of the season and assess their chances of securing a spot in the College Football Playoff.
