Clemson Tigers DC Wes Goodwin Talks Challenges of Facing Florida State

CLEMSON—Clemson Tigers defensive coordinator Wes Goodwin met with the media Monday to discuss the challenge of slowing down a potent Florida State defense that comes rolling into Death Valley Saturday (noon, ABC).

Here is what we heard:

  • On Jordan Travis: “A multitude of problems. Great experience. He can extend plays with his feet. They can use him in the run game. He presents a lot of problems.”
  • “Saturday night was more of what we like to see, you could feel the energy on the sideline”
  • “The more guys that you can have cover and tackle in space. It’s cool to see Khalil (Barnes) get the opportunity. He’s an amazing young man. He’s really confident in himself. A really smart young man.”
  • “Everything starts up front and controlling the line of scrimmage this week”
  • “Been pretty pleased, each game they have gotten better and better, that’s what you wanna see. (speaking on the backup linebackers)”
  • “I’ve been pleased where the defensive ends are at”
  • “A multitude of problems. Great experience. He can extend plays with his feet. They can use him in the run game. He presents a lot of problems.”
  • “Details, missed tackles, (speaking on Duke loss) We have gotten better in those areas”
