As bad as Clemson’s 28-7 loss at Duke on Labor Day night looked on the field, it wasn’t enough to knock the Tigers out of the AP Top 25 Poll on Tuesday.
Dabo Swinney and company just stayed among the ranked, falling from preseason No. 9 to No. 25 after Week 1. They are fortunate to still be ranked after turning the ball over three times, including a pair of second-half fumbles near inside the Duke 10-yard line.
Clemson (0-1) has been ranked in the last 21 AP Poll releases, dating back to Week 14 of 2021. That was the year the Tigers fell out of the ranking after Week 5, ending a streak of 107 consecutive appearances.
LSU, which lost 45-24 to Florida State on Sunday, is the only other 0-1 team in the AP Poll. Duke jumped in at No. 21.
The Tigers turn their attention to Charleston Southern, which comes to Memorial Stadium for Clemson’s home opener at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday.
