If the Clemson Tigers are going to win the ACC in 2024, they will need to see improvement from an offense that struggled this past season. The Tigers have all the tools they need to give opposing defenses trouble this upcoming season, and here are the four keys for success.

  1. Depth

Clemson fans have been waiting for a star receiver to dominate in the passing game for the last few seasons. Not only does the Clemson receiver room possess those stars this season, but they are also loaded with depth.

Tyler Brown, Adam Randall, and Antonio Williams are all healthy heading into the season, each possessing the ability and tools necessary for a breakout year.

The Tigers also brought in two top receivers from the 2024 recruiting cycle, T.J. Moore and Bryant Wesco Jr. Wide receivers coach Tyler Grisham believes Wesco can contribute immediately following a smooth transition from high school to college in the spring. He also noted that Moore has spent more time studying film than anyone else in the receiver room since his arrival.

  1. Dominant running game

Running back Phil Mafah looks ready for a dominant season and could be one of the top running backs in the country. In 2023, Mafah had the best season of his career, totaling 179 rushing attempts, 965 rushing yards, and 13 rushing touchdowns in 13 games (five starts).

Many early mock drafts have Phil Mafah being selected in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, but don't be surprised if he climbs the charts after a dominant season.

  1. Experience and veteran leadership

Many eyes will be locked on quarterback Cade Klubnik when the season kicks off on Aug. 31 against Georgia. Last season was Klubnik's first full season as the Tigers' starting quarterback. After a season where he had 2,844 yards passing, 19 touchdowns, 9 interceptions, and a completion percentage of just 63.9%, he will be looking for an improved season in 2024. With a full year of experience under his belt and a full offseason to develop chemistry with his receivers, look for a breakout season from Klubnik in 2024.

The Tigers are also returning 8 of their eleven starters from last season. With that type of veteran leadership and experience, they will be a tough opponent for any defense.

  1. Revamped offensive line

In December, Matt Luke took over as the offensive line coach for the Clemson Tigers. Luke has more than 20 years of experience coaching at the college level, most notably at Ole Miss and Georgia. Luke even served as the interim head coach for Ole Miss in 2017, following the firing of Hugh Freeze.

Matt Luke talked to the media last week and mentioned that his entire offensive line is healthy heading into fall camp, which is just around the corner.

The coach also believes that there are eight guys with the ability to start on this offensive line, meaning the Tigers have some much-needed depth in case of injury. During his media session, he mentioned Collin Sadler as a guy who can play every position on the offensive line except for center, which will greatly help this offense in 2024. He also mentioned Ian Reed and Dietrick Pennington as players who will have the chance to compete against the older guys for playing time.
