The Clemson Tigers kick off Week 3 as a 24-point favorite in their matchup against Florida Atlantic on Saturday at 8 p.m.
Dabo Swinney’s squad is coming off a 66-17 victory in which they almost covered a closing 51.5-point sports betting spread despite falling behind 14-7 early, thanks to 45 unanswered points.
Clemson is 0-2 against the spread in 2023 now while FAU also is 0-2 after failing to cover against Monmouth in Week 1 and losing to Ohio 17-10 in Week 2 as a 3.5-point home favorite.
Series history
This will mark just the second meeting between the two schools. Clemson easily won 54-6 and covered as a 28.5-point favorite against the Owls in 2006.
The total of 43 went over as well.
Over/under
The total in Saturday’s matchup is set at 51.5 points. The Tigers are 1-1 over/under after a total of 55 easily hit over against CSU.
FAU is also 1-1 on totals this season. The over has hit in three of their last four road games, dating back to last season.

What to watch for this week
Some sportsbooks opened this line up at Clemson -24.5 and the line has crept downward since then. It could continue to work that direction as the week goes along, but it would be surprising to see it fall to a three-touchdown spread.
The sports betting market could push the number back over 24 if confidence rises with the Tigers’ easy win over CSU. Then again, Cade Klubnik has not protected the ball well this season. And could this game against the Owls be a look-ahead spot with Florida State coming to town Sept. 23? Clemson’s attention is in question.
FAU quarterback Casey Thompson, though, hasn’t established much confidence in bettors. Joining his former Texas head coach Tom Herman in Boca Raton, Fla., Thompson completed just 55% of his passes for 180 yards, no TDs and two interceptions in the loss to Ohio.
