Clemson men’s basketball lost a big man to the NCAA transfer portal on Thursday.

Power forward/center Ben Middlebrooks, according to multiple reports, is moving on from Brad Brownell and the Tigers after two seasons.

Middlebrooks played an important role off the bench backing up star P.J. Hall this past season when Middlebrooks averaged 3.1 points and 2.7 rebounds in 11.2 minutes in 2022-23. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native shot 59 percent as a true freshman in 2021-22 in 6.4 minutes per game.

If playing time was behind Middlebrooks' decision-making, it's reasonable to think that Hall, who is testing the NBA draft waters, could return for next season.
