It’s been less than 24 hours since Nick Saban announced his retirement at Alabama, and despite no longer coaching, he’s still having a major impact on the odds.
Yesterday, BetOnline opened odds on the next coach at Alabama. Dan Lanning was the initial favorite and then became a huge favorite this morning. News came out (although this type of news is often just to stop speculation) that Lanning was staying at Oregon and the odds changed again.
Currently Washington Head Coach Kalen DeBoer is the favorite to replace the legendary Saban followed by Mike Norvell and former Alabama OC Steve Sarkisian. Lanning now has the fourth lowest odds followed by Lane Kiffin and Dabo Swinney.
Saban stepping down also affected the CFP Title Chances for Alabama for 2025 and the 2024 Heisman lines for Jalen Milroe.
Alabama went from second behind Georgia at 25/4 (+575) to 10/1 (+1000) and are now behind Ohio State and Texas to win the CFP Championship. Plus Georgia’s odds are now shortened from 4/1 to 3/1.
In terms of the Heisman Trophy, Jalen Milroe went from the favorite at 15/2 ((+750) to third behind Carson Beck and Quinn Ewers at 9/1.
