Dabo Swinney Updates Status of Barrett Carter, Assesses Drake Maye, Tez Walker

Dabo Swinney met with the media one final time as Clemson prepares to host North Carolina for Senior Day on Saturday.

What We Heard

  • On Barrett Carter: “He has been day to day and getting a little better each day.”
  • On Drake Maye: “Bigtime player. He is his own guy. Don’t really compare him to anyone. He is a problem. He is a very accurate thrower but he is a really good runner and he looks to run. He creates a lot of explosives with his legs. Every bit as advertised. No doubt a first round pick.”
  • On Tez Walker: “A great player. Electric. Good ball skills. Plays long and plays fast. Don’t really have anybody to compare him to.”
  • On freshman class: “These guys have done a lot of really good things and are putting themselves into position to do great things in years to come.”
  • On Wade Woodaz: “Baller. He is what you look for. Tough as they come. Multi-position guy. Pretty good true sophomore.”
  • More on the freshmen: “All these freshmen, offensively and defensively, it is a naturally physical class. They are all physical kids. It is a really good group all across the board. Physical guys. Excited about what we have. Another thing I like about this group is they are competitive. A lot to be excited about with these guys.”
  • Objective of OL last two games: “Keep it going. They have built some momentum. They have taken ownership and have a lot of pride in what they are doing. Continue to build confidence and momentum.”
