CLEMSON AGAIN TAKES LABOR DAY STAGE FOR SEASON OPENER
DURHAM, N.C.– Clemson will open a season on Labor Day evening for the second straight year when the ninth-ranked Tigers face the Duke Blue Devils on Monday, Sept. 4. Kickoff at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, N.C., is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Clemson enters the game as the reigning ACC champions after winning its league-leading 21st all-time ACC title last season. The Tigers are 15-4-1 all-time in conference openers of seasons following ACC titles, a mark that includes wins in conference openers following each of Clemson’s six ACC titles from 2015-20.
We are 8 minutes away and I think it is 50-50
And maybe 50% full
And by 50-50…I mean, 50% Clemson, 30% duke and 20% aluminum
Did notice that Walker Parks’ ankle was heavily taped in pregame warmups
Duke won the toss…Clemson to get the ball first
Duke wins the toss and will kick it off to Clemson
Cole Turner with the start
Klubnik missed Shipley on the third down…he could have ran a long way
Klubnik was way off the mark on that throw
Not exactly the kind of start the Tigers were hoping for
I don’t think he fumbled. Looked down but who knows with these officials.
Clemson D taking some bad angles on some of these plays on the opening drive
Was that a crossing route we just saw? Tigers attacking the middle of the field
Not a big fan of the screen call there on 3rd down
Total whiff by Banks Pope on the FG try
Getting out first look at Peter Woods and TJ Parker
Another screen call on 3rd down. This one comes up three yards short
Not the best start for the Riley/Klubnik era…and Year 2 or the Goodwin era, as Duke has outplayed Clemson through the first quarter
Big 3rd down play by Sheridan Jones
Early second quarter and Will Shipley’s already gotten 8 carries.
Boneheaded play gives the Tigers the ball at the Duke 18…
TD…Klubnik to Shipley
Steve Spurrier is in the house tonight. He does not get the warmest of welcomes from the Clemson fans here in attendance. Tons of boo birds.
Will Shipley scores the first RECEIVING touchdown of his career.
Duke just 1-5 on 3rd downs
The first half has been one big tickle fight
Still waiting on this secondary to show me something different from last year…
another blocked fg…
Clemson not just shooting themselves in the foot, they are cutting their entire leg off
