Monday Musings: Khalil Barnes, Olsen Patt Henry Preview Rivalry Matchup Against Gamecocks

CLEMSON- Khalil Barnes and Olsen Patt Henry both met with the media to preview Clemson’s upcoming matchup with the South Carolina Gamecocks.

What We Heard

Khalil Barnes

  • On the defense: “It is no secret anymore. The (Notre Dame) week, coach Swinney came in and gave it to everybody. Every play matters.”
  • On Spencer Rattler: “Another week of a really talented quarterback. We know we are going to have to try and find a lot of pre-snap stuff. It is definitely not easy. He is an experienced guy. It will be hard for our defense but I trust coach Goodwin.”
  • Physically you don’t have many guys as big as he is moving the way he does.”
  • On last year’s loss to SC: “It was my official visit. We are going to get their best and they are going to get our best. I feel like for sure there is going to be a little extra this week.”
  • “You can feel like it was real tense (last year). We are going to their stadium this year. Great atmosphere.”
  • On Avieon Terrell: “It is just that chip on his shoulder. He has that dog in him”

Olsen Patt-Henry

  • On playing as a freshman: “Me being ready at all times. Next man up. The opponent is not gonna care. I have doing the same things since I got here. My time came and I have been ready.”
  • On his improvements: “Throughout the time I have been here I feel like my blocking has gotten better. I did not really played TE in high school.”
  • Adjusting to playing TE after playing WR in high school: “It has been huge. I always blocked but not in the box. It is not a big adjustment and I think I am doing well adjusting to the speed of the game.”
  • On Clemson-SC rivalry: “I am not familiar at all. I have heard they have great fans, great atmosphere and now I get to be in it. It gets loud. They chat a lot.”
  • Being in the crowd for last year’s game: “It was fun. You could feel it from both sides. It was nothing crazy but fans being fans.”
