Most Anticipated Clemson Tigers of 2023: No. 5 Adam Randall

All Clemson Tigers is getting you ready for the 2023 season with a list of some of the most anticipated players. Heading into the fall, these Tigers are either coming off of injuries, stepping into larger roles or are needed for Clemson to have a big season. You won’t find fan favorites like Will Shipley or Barrett Carter on this list. They are known commodities. Instead, the focus is on players the fans can’t wait to do something they haven’t seen.

Let’s keep the countdown going with No. 5.

Sophomore WR Adam Randall

Key stats from 2022: 10 receptions, 128 yards (12 games).

Why the hype?: It could seem odd to have a player who’s played a season but never caught a touchdown and has modest numbers at best ranked this highly. But Randall is a different case. He tore his ACL in the spring of 2022 and wasn’t healthy enough to contribute. Another knee injury limited him in the spring of 2023. However, QB Cade Klubnik and others have raved about Randall’s ascension and good health during summer workouts. At the media-viewing portions of fall camp, Randall has been running with the first team and looks tremendous in and out of breaks. He’s aggressive in catching the ball and attacks the pass rather than waiting on it to get to him. At 6-foot-3, 224 pounds, he’s the best-looking physical specimen at the position.

What to expect in 2023: Clemson is in dire need of an alpha in that receiver room and a go-to threat on the outside. Randall could be ready to supply this new, Garrett Riley-led offense with the kind of big-play potential fans are used to seeing from the Clemson wideouts. Alongside Beaux Collins and Antonio Williams, Randall’s going to get a real opportunity. He had some last year but was not physically ready. In better shape and less weight than a year ago, Randall could be one of the leading pass-catchers and touchdown-makers in 2023, finally living up to the hype of being one of the top players in the state of South Carolina as a 2022 recruit.
