CLEMSON- Nate Wiggins and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. met with the media following Clemson’s 31-21 win over No. 20 North Carolina on Senior Day at Death Valley.

What We Heard

Nate Wiggins

  • On what he will remember about this game: “That pick that sealed the game.”
  • On playing well vs UNC: “I don’t really think about the past. I prepare like I never played them before.”
  • On running down Omarion Hampton and stripping ball out: “I just know I am a fast guy. I knew I was going to catch him. I seen the ball come out last minute.”
  • On South Carolina game: “They took the trophy (last year). We just going to have to prepare.”
  • Clawing way out of 4-4 hole: “We have been in every game this year. We just got to finish.”
  • “We have grown a lot. We know we going to get adversity, just got to play through it.”
  • On senior class: “We owe them everything. I went out there and played like it was my last game.”
  • On how this performance stacks up: “I don’t feel like it was my best game, I allowed three catches.”
  • On Drake Maye: “I feel like when we play top-ranked quarterbacks, it is like we have a chip on our shoulder. He is a great quarterback, though.”
  • On preparing to face Tez Walker: “I do the same thing for every receiver. Just try to learn his moves and do what I do. Same thing I do for every game.”
  • “I showed I can cover one side of the field and lock down the best receiver you got.”

Jeremiah Trotter Jr

  • On winning for the seniors: “It feels real good. I know we could not do that last year. Just seeing the smiles on their faces.”
  • Locking down UNC offense after first quarter: “Really just settled in. Just had to calm down and remember that it is just 11 guys doing their job.”
  • “We really just had the mindset of not beating ourselves. Drake will cut you up and expose those mistakes if you give them to him.”
  • On Wiggins running Hampton down: “That was an effort play.”
  • On South Carolina game: “It means a lot to a lot of people. Gets both teams up during the week. Just got to focus on our stuff and not make it bigger than it is.”
  • Beating two ranked teams in last three games: “just shows the mentality of this team. Fighting and finsihing strong.”
  • ” A team effort. Everybody doing their jobs.”
