Clemson’s kicker, Nolan Hauser, opens up about the anticipation surrounding the upcoming game against Georgia and the unique pressures that come with being the Tigers’ go-to player for critical field goals.
Nolan Hoosier clarifies the correct pronunciation of his last name, often mispronounced as Hauser. As he prepares for his first game, Nolan feels more excitement than nerves, comparing the experience to the feeling of coming home. He expresses gratitude for the support from teammates Clay and Capson, which bolstered his confidence during camp. Nolan recalls feeling amazing after summer camp, enjoying the strong competition and the fun of the experience.
Nolan shares his close friendship with Robert, another kicker, and highlights how they support each other. His family was thrilled to hear that he would be the starting kicker, given their strong ties to the school. Although he did not learn to kick from his mom, who played soccer, Nolan began focusing on kicking in his freshman year of high school. Growing up, he visited Clemson about once a year and felt proud to be associated with the university.
Looking forward to his first home game, Nolan is excited about the experience, including running down the hill. He feels comfortable kicking from various distances depending on the day and conditions and emphasizes the importance of maintaining the same mentality in college games as he did in high school. Nolan found his first experience kicking in a dome to be awesome and loud, and he appreciates the guidance from special teams coaches. As advised by Coach Lee, Nolan is focused on the next game against App State and admires past kickers like Walsh and Catanzaro, having trained with Dan Orr, who coached notable kickers like B.T. Potter.
