Tiger Tracker: 2024 Clemson LB Targets (Football)

With LaVonta Bentley transferring out and Keith Maguire deciding not to return this season, Clemson heads into the 2023 season a tad thin at linebacker.

The Tigers will go into the spring with just seven players on scholarship at the position.

2023 Linebackers

  • Barrett Carter (Jr)
  • Jeremiah Trotter Jr. (Jr)
  • Wade Woodaz (So)
  • TJ Dudley (R-Fr)
  • Kobe McCloud (R-Fr)
  • Dee Crayton (Fr)
  • Jamal Anderson (Fr)

Looking ahead to the 2024 signing class, expect the staff to bring in a minimum of two linebackers, possibly even three, as Carter and Trotter are two players to keep an eye on in regards to leaving early for the NFL Draft.

Currently, the staff has just four offers out, meaning the board will likely expand at some point. Until then, here are three names to know.

2024 Targets

Sammy Brown (Jefferson, Ga): Brown is the guy at the top of the board. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound prospect is the top linebacker in the class and a Top 20 talent overall. His parents are both Furman alums, and he has been to campus multiple times over the past year. He has also been attending Dabo Swinney's high school camps for years.

Brown's most recent visit was for Elite Junior Day last month, and this is a battle that looks like it might be coming down to Georgia and Clemson. Tennessee could also be in the mix. A decision won't likely come before the summer, as Brown is expected to take some official visits in June.

Drew Woodaz (Jesuit, Tampa, Fl): The younger brother of current Clemson linebacker Wade Woodaz was also on hand for Elite Junior Day, which is when he picked up his offer. While the brothers have admittedly dreamed of playing together, the younger Woodaz won't rush into any decision.

Oklahoma and Vanderbilt are two of the other schools pushing the hardest at the moment, and Woodaz also has said he wants to take some more visits. Missouri, Virginia Tech and Louisville are some of the other schools to have offered.

Zavier Hamilton (Navarre, Fl): While Hamilton doesn't have an offer just yet, he has been on the radar. After camping at Clemson last summer, he visited for two games during the season. Some of the schools to have offered include Georgia, Florida State, LSU, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Auburn, and Virginia Tech.
