Tiger Tracker: All Clemson Recruiting Mailbag

You’ve got recruiting questions and we have the answers.

Welcome to All Clemson’s recruiting mailbag, where we will answer your recruiting questions. Or we will at least attempt to do so, as recruiting is a world with many moving parts and an ever-changing landscape where circumstances can often change in a flash.

With that in mind, let’s dive in.

Boon: What are our biggest needs for the 2024 class? I am going to assume LB will be a priority.

For me, the two biggest needs are at WR and DE, and the number for each is two as things stand right now.

While I like the makeup of the WR room currently, there are a number of targets in the 2024 class that could add a whole new dynamic to the position and 5-star Cam Coleman (Central, Phenix City, Al) is one of those guys. Auburn appears to have a slight edge in this one right now but I think this is a battle Clemson could potentially win in the end.

5-star Bryant Wesco (Midlothian, Tx) and 4-stars TJ Moore (Tampa Catholic, Tampa, Fl) Alex Taylor (Grimsley, Greensboro, NC) and Braylon Staley (Aiken, SC) are others that are on the radar. All five will be on hand for the big official visit weekend.

Of those five, I think Clemson winds up with two. Which ones, well that is yet to be determined.

Right now, I have three defensive ends that are expected to attend the official visit weekend. 5-star Eddrick Houston (Buford, Ga) and 4-stars Darien Mayo (Good Counsel, Olney, Md) and Jeremiah Beaman (Parker, Birmingham, Al).

While I think Clemson is in the thick of it for Houston, I certainly wouldn’t call them the favorite. Pulling him out of Georgia won’t be easy, but he visited for multiple games last season and was back for a practice this spring, so something keeps drawing him back. Again, the Tigers are in it, and shouldn’t be discounted.

As for Beaman and Mayo, we’ll have to wait until after official visits to have a better idea. However, it wouldn’t surprise me to see the board expanded at some point. One name to watch is 3-star Elias Williams (Hudson, Fl). He visited for the spring game and will be back for camp later this month.

As for LB, the number there is also two. Clemson already got a commitment from 3-star Drew Woodaz (Jesuit, Tampa, Fl), the younger brother of current LB Wade Woodaz, meaning there is one spot left. The guy at the top of the board is 5-star Sammy Brown (Jefferson, Ga). While he is planning to take officials to Clemson, Georgia, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Ohio State, this is looking like a two-team battle between the Tigers and the Dawgs. Expect a decision sometime in July.

Kevin: Any 2025 prospects that are confirmed summer camp attendees we should keep an eye on?

I’ll give you two names that I know are coming and that I have a personal interest in watching. One is 2025 4-star QB Stone Saunders. He already has close to two dozen offers and the film shows this kid can sling it. He has yet to start his junior season and has already thrown for more than 6,500 yards.

The other one is from the 2024 class, 3-star DE Elias Williams. He visited for the spring game and an offer from Clemson is one he wants. With the board at end very likely to expand at some point, Williams is absolutely a name worth monitoring.
