Tiger Tracker: All Clemson Recruiting Mailbag

You’ve got recruiting questions and we have the answers.

Welcome to All Clemson’s recruiting mailbag, where we will answer your recruiting questions. Or we will at least attempt to do so, as recruiting is a world with many moving parts and an ever-changing landscape where circumstances can often change in a flash.

With that in mind, let’s dive in.

Dwayne: Biggest shift you think we’ll see coming out of Elite Junior Day? Like someone that had the Tigers in the running but now are leading the pack or vice versa?

One guy I think Clemson really made an impression on this weekend is QB Walker White (Little Rock Christian, Ark). So much so that they might even be the team to beat right now and I would not have said that coming in. White came in on Friday and left on Sunday. He got to spend plenty of time with new offensive coordinator Garrett Riley.

White has some ties to Arkansas, as multiple family members went to school there. Alabama is also starting to show real interest. He has visited both of those schools this month too. But this is a recruitment that could be nearing an end, and as we sit here today, I think the Tigers might just be the new leaders in the clubhouse.

Although, it is possible this thing stretches out a little longer and he takes more visits during the spring. We will just have to see how it plays out.

TJ: One guy that I really like on the board is RB David Eziomume, I’m guessing this is a wait game right now but how do you feel about our chances with this guy?

Eziomume (N. Cobb, Ga) was also on hand this weekend and is the only running back in the 2024 cycle that has an offer. He is THE guy right now, and has been since the offer went out back in October. Auburn, South Carolina and Virginia Tech are all involved but currently this looks like a battle that is coming down to Clemson and Georgia Tech, with proximity to home playing a big part.

While Eziomume made it to Clemson on Saturday, he also made a quick visit to Georgia Tech on Sunday, after having just visited for their Junior Day earlier this month. We will see how much longer this plays out, but if we get into the spring and he is still undecided, I would fully expect Clemson to expand the board. However, I’m not sure we get to that point.

TigerPawGT: Any thoughts on the Tigers chances with Sammy Brown? Does he (or his family) have strong ties to the Dawgs?

This absolutely looks to be coming down to Clemson and Georgia, and I think there are things about both programs that really resonates with Brown. For Clemson, it’s the culture. In talking with him, it is overly obvious how big of a role culture will play into who wins out here.

Both of his parents are Furman alums, so no connection in that regard. I actually asked him once if he grew up rooting for the Dawgs and he said no.

“I never really liked anyone, in particular, growing up,” he said. “I just kind of watched whatever was on. My dad always watched triple-option teams because we ran triple-option at our old high school. So he really watched a lot of triple-option teams like Georgia Southern and Army and all that stuff, so I never really had a favorite growing up.”

As for Clemson’s chances, I think they are in a great spot. That certainly doesn’t mean they will land him, but I do think they have positioned themselves as well as they possibly could have. Brown told me this week that the plan is still to take some official visits in June then commit in July, but I can definitely see a scenario in which his recruitment is over before that.

Lesley: Is Sammy Brown’s mullet as cool in person as it is in pictures?

I can answer that one in one word. Yes.
