Tiger Tracker: Looking Ahead to Clemson Elite Junior Day (Death Valley Domain)

Clemson's 2023 season came to a conclusion on Friday as the Tigers beat Kentucky 35-30 in a dramatic come from behind win. However, the recruiting train rolls on, and January will be a big month when it comes to the 2025 class.

Clemson will host its annual Elite Junior Day on January 27, a day reserved for some of the top targets in the class. The Tigers already have seven players committed, with most, if not all, of those expected to be on hand.

As for the uncommitted targets that are planning to attend, 4-star DL Isaiah Campbell told me over the weekend that he plans to visit. The 6-foot-4, 260-pound prospect has already visited Clemson on multiple occasions.

“Oh, I was amazed, it was spectacular,” Campbell said after his very first visit. “It was super-cali-fragilistic-expialidocious.”

Clemson already has 4-star DT Amare Adams committed and is likely to only take one more interior guy. Campbell has said in the past he could make a decision as early as the spring.

4-star OL Jaylan Beckley has confirmed with me that he plans to be in attendance. With Beckley living in Texas, he was not able to get to campus for a game day visit, so this will be his first trip since working out at camp last summer.

“The fact that Clemson is known to be so selective with who they offer, means so much to me,” Beckley said last summer. “I’m humbled and extremely grateful to be one of the few guys in the whole country that they can see being a Clemson Tiger.”

The Tigers already have one OL on board, in 4-star Easton Ware, but are expected to take at least two more minimum. In my opinion, Beckley is a guy who fits Clemson's culture perfectly.

3-star OL Mal Waldrep has also confirmed with me that he plans to be on hand. Waldrep was one of the first OL in the 2025 class to pick up an offer last summer after attending Dabo Swinney's high school camp.

“I think of Clemson as one of my top choice schools, especially after seeing what they can do to better prepare you for what happens after football,” Waldrep said back in the summer. “Whether that be going to the NFL or just continuing on with life, they make sure you know how to be a leader in life, and I respect that.”

4-star DE London Merritt, who also picked up an offer back during the summer, is a guy that has been what could be considered a priority target. However, he has transferred to IMG, and the Clemson staff has not recruited anyone from that school since the three decommitments after the departure of Brent Venables. We will have to wait and see if the move affects his recruitment as far as Clemson goes. It is probably safe to assume that it will.

Merritt did tell me that he "definitely' wants to attend Junior Day, but that he was not sure yet if he would be able to make it.
