CLEMSON— Clemson running back Will Shipley and linebacker Barrett Carter met with the media for the first time this season following the Tigers first practice of the fall, here is what they said:
- Shipley on himself and fellow RB Phil Mafah: “I don’t think there’s a better duo in the nation — humbly”
- Shipley on Garrett Riley: “I think he’s done a great job of putting us in a great position,” and says today was one of the most fun days he’s had as a Clemson Tiger.
- Shipley on Cade Klubnik’s pre-snap freedom: “When you give that freedom to 2, there’s only good things that happen from it.”
- Shipley on being Thunder+Lightning 2.0: “Just to have those two guys in the same room is unbelievable.”
- Shipley: “I believe God put me on this earth to play the game of football.”
- Barrett Carter on freshmen: “They’re so intentional and ask questions.”
- Carter on Klubnik: “Cade has taken that role and he has ran with it.”
- Carter on the accountability numbers: “We have a bunch of fifth and sixth year guys…you really want to lay it all on the line for them.”
- Carter On Wade Woodaz: “He’s getting so comfortable in his skin…he’s yelling at me every day, he’s grinding in the weight room, eating, watching extra film.”
- Carter on high expectations for him and fellow LB Jeremiah Trotter Jr.: “We want to win the national championship. If that means me and Trot have zero tackles a game or 20 tackles a game, so be it”
