The kickoff of the 2024 college football season is just a few weeks away. Here are the best Week 1 games and why you need to watch.

No. 14 Clemson Tigers vs. No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs

This Week 1 matchup is undoubtedly the most highly anticipated game of the season's opening week. The Bulldogs are the heavy favorite heading into the game. However, Georgia lost four starters on offense from last season. There has also been significant drama surrounding the Georgia program, with over 23 players getting in trouble with law enforcement since last season.

Georgia will be the more talented team on paper. However, do not count out this Clemson team. The Tigers have eight legitimate options at wide receiver and one of the best running backs in the country, Phil Mafah.

If Clemson's defense can force early pressure on Georgia QB Carson Beck, don't be surprised to see the Tigers walk away with the first major upset of the college football season.

North Dakota State Bison @ Colorado Buffaloes

Every year there is an FCS team that upsets a notable FBS opponent. North Dakota State is one of the best teams every year in the FCS, winning nine FCS national championships between 2011-2021. North Dakota State also produces legitimate NFL talent such as Carson Wentz, Trey Lance, Christian Watson, and Dillon Radunz.

NDSU has also won six of its last seven matchups against FBS opponents, including No. 13 Iowa in 2016.

The Buffaloes have great playmakers such as Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders. However, Colorado struggles up front on the offensive line. If NDSU can dominate at the line of scrimmage, they will pull off the massive upset.

No. 19 Miami Hurricanes @ Florida Gators

One of the oldest rivalries in college football, these two in-state rivals hate each other.

Miami and Florida have played each other 56 times, with Miami winning 29 times and Florida winning 27 times.

Miami is the better team on paper, and many believe that the Hurricanes are a contender in the ACC this season. However, it is nearly impossible for road teams to get a win in Gainesville. It will be an interesting matchup, and there will definitely be some tempers flaring between the two teams.

No. 7 Notre Dame Fighting Irish @ No. 20 Texas A&M Aggies

Many people believe that Notre Dame has a shot at winning the national championship in 2024. However, the Fighting Irish will face a tough test when they play the Aggies on the road to open the season.

Texas A&M is home of the 12th man, and getting a win there as the road team is a difficult feat. It will be a tough test for both teams and a massive résumé-building win for whichever team walks away with the victory.
