Clemson picked up a commitment late Saturday night, as 2024 DL Champ Thompson announced a verbal pledge via social media.

“First I want to thank God for giving me the talent and ability to play this beautiful game of football,” Thompson said via Twitter. “Next, I want to thank my parents for helping me become the young man I am today. I want to thank the Meadowcreek high school football coaching staff, especially coach Bryant Harrison, and my former head coach Jason Carrera for believing in me as well as every coach that has had a chance to coach me and have an impact on my life.

“With that being said, I want to announce that I have made the decision to commit to Clemson University to further my academic and athletic career.”

The 6-foot-3, 275 pound prospect out of Meadowcreek (Norcross, Ga), was in attendance for the Tigers' Elite Junior Day on Saturday. The blue-chip talent is widely considered a Top 250 player, and is the first defensive linemen to join the 2024 class.

Thompson picked up his offer from Clemson back in June and currently has more than a dozen in total. SOme of the other schools to have offered include Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Notre Dame and Oklahoma.

The addition of Thompson now gives the Tigers four commitments in the 2024 class, as he joins TE Christian Bentancur, CB Tavoy Feagin and PK Nolan Hauser.
