While much of the outside attention is currently focused on the current recruiting cycle, Clemson is already amping up efforts on its 2025 class.
While offers won't start going out until June, the Tigers hosted numerous rising high school juniors last weekend. One of those was 4-star OL Cortez Smith (Parkview, Lilburn, GA), who has now made multiple visits to campus. Throughout all those visits, there is one thing that has really made an impression.
"The consistency is what always stands out to me about Clemson," Smith told All Clemson Tigers. "Clemson has always been totally consistent with everything since I first came three years ago for camp."
Thomas Austin has also made an impression on Smith and he can see himself playing for Clemson's offensive line coach.
"Coach Austin is a knowledgeable and hardworking," Smith said. "A coach that develops his linemen and them earn every penny, and that’s my kind of coach."
The 6-foot-4, 295-pound offensive linemen is already thinking about his next visit, which might include coming back for the spring game. If not, you can expect to see him competing at Dabo Swinney's high school camp later this summer.
"I’m thinking about the spring game but definitely coming to go to work in June."
Smith has already hit the double digit mark in offers, including ones from Auburn, Florida State, LSU, Penn State and Georgia, with the reigning national champion Bulldogs getting his last spring visit. However, being a 2025 recruit, he is really just beginning the process, and has yet to decide on a timeline for a decision.
One thing he is certain of at this point is that he wants to major in marketing and that the Tigers are one of his favorites.
"Definitely one of the top schools on my list."
