Clemson begins a week as a home underdog for the second time this season.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish visit Memorial Stadium on Saturday at noon as a 3-point favorite, according to BetOnline.ag. The Tigers were a small underdog to Florida State in Week 4.
It’s just the second time since 2016 that Clemson’s been in this position, but it feels very warranted based on how this season has gone.
The Tigers are 4-4 overall and have lost consecutive games for the first time under Dabo Swinney since 2011. Clemson, which is 2-6 against the spread this year, also got it handed to them by the Irish last year in South Bend in a 35-14 whipping despite being a 4-point favorite on the road.
Notre Dame, meanwhile, is 7-2 on the season and 7-2 against the spread as well. The Irish are coming off a 58-7 dismantling of Pittsburgh and have won back-to-back games by at least four touchdowns.
Clemson has won three of the last five meetings against the Irish, who are 3-2 against the spread in those showdowns.
