Clemson has picked up a commitment from 2024 DE Darien Mayo on Thursday.

The 4-star prospect, out of Good Counsel (Olney, Md), had more than two dozen offers and chose the Tigers over other schools that included Michigan, Ohio State and Southern Cal.

The 6-foot-7, 250-pound Mayo was one of just two defensive ends on hand for Clemson's big official visit weekend in June. He then took officials to Ohio State and Southern Cal and had one scheduled for Michigan before eventually canceling.

With the Tigers looking to take two defensive ends in the 2024 class, Mayo is the first player at the position to commit to Clemson in the 2024 class. Rivals ranks him as the 12th best strongside defensive end in the nation and No. 102 overall.

The addition of Mayo now gives the Tigers 12 total commitments in the 2024 class, which Rivals ranks No. 11 in the country. He is the fourth player to commit since the big official visit weekend, joining 5-star LB Sammy Brown and 4-star WRs Bryant Wesco and TJ Moore.
