With the deadline to announce whether or not he will return just one week away, Brad Brownell and Clemson are still awaiting a decision from veteran big man PJ Hall.
Hall participated in the NBA Combine and by all accounts performed very well, which leaves the Tigers uncertain about the future of the star player.
"He may do something this week, he may not," Brownell said on The Press Box on WCCP The Roar. "I'm gonna leave all that up to him."
"I do know this, PJ Hall loves Clemson. He loves it here. He loves being a student athlete here. He loves playing in Littlejohn. Loves his teammates. I think he's excited about our team. We just have to wait and see what he ends up deciding."
While Brownell has added some size from the portal in Bas Leyte from UNCG and Jack Clark from NC State, losing Hall would be a major hit for a team that will be expected to compete for a spot in next year's NCAA Tournament.
Hall was a key contributor for Brownell's Tigers a season ago. He averaged 15.3 points per game, while shooting 54% from the field, despite starting the season at less than 100% due to offseason knee surgery.
"Everybody has to remember that he didn't go through any of the offseason training last year because he had the two surgeries," Brownell said. "So to be honest with you, he really he wasn't 100% until late in the season. And certainly in November and December, not just physically but mentally he wasn't where he wanted to be. I know it felt like it took him a long time to get to a place where he was comfortable, confident, in shape and just mentally in a really good place."
The deadline for draft prospects to withdraw and retain their collegiate eligibility is May 31.
