Clemson Linebacker Dismissed from Team (Football)

Linebacker T.J. Dudley is no longer with the Clemson football team.

A Clemson spokesperson for the football program said Dudley was dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules. All Clemson Tigers confirmed Wednesday Dudley has since entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.

Dudley recorded two tackles in four games during his redshirt season in 2022. The redshirt freshman was expected to play a larger role and be in the linebacker rotation in 2023. He appeared to be the backup to middle linebacker behind All-American Jeremiah Trotter Jr.

A four-star recruit coming out of Montgomery (Ala.) Catholic Prep, Dudley signed with the Tigers February 2022 after he decommitted from Oregon in 2021.

Once players enter the transfer portal, their current school is no longer under obligation to honor a scholarship.

On3.com's Matt Zenitz reported it first.
