Clemson QB Cade Klubnik Poised for Breakout 2024 Season: Key Factors for Success (Football)

Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik is set for a breakout season in 2024, and here is why the young quarterback is destined for success.

The Tigers are returning eight of their 11 starters on offense from the 2023 season. In the offseason, Clemson lost RB Will Shipley, C Will Putnam, and WR Beaux Collins. Cade has had the chance to develop more chemistry with his offense, and the unit as a whole is much more experienced than last year.

Most notably, Clemson is returning four of their five starters on the offensive line. It is nearly impossible for a quarterback to be successful with an inexperienced offensive line, and not only is this current Clemson group experienced, but Cade has now had a full year of starting experience behind them.

Clemson's offensive line struggled last year after losing starting right guard Walter Parks to a season-ending injury early in the season. However, in December, Clemson hired notable offensive-line coach Matt Luke. This is a massive hire for Clemson as they look to provide Cade better protection and open up the running game and passing game.

Matt Luke has coached college football for more than 20 years. Most notably, he was Ole Miss's offensive line coach from 2012-2019, and he was elevated to interim head coach in the 2017 season when Hugh Freeze was fired. During his tenure at Ole Miss, his offensive line propelled their offense and set program records for scoring, touchdowns, total offense, passing yards, and passing touchdowns.

In his career, Matt Luke has mentored 42 all-conference selections and 27 NFL Draft picks, according to Clemson Athletics.

Matt Luke will look to have the same effect as he begins his journey as the offensive line coach for the Clemson Tigers. His experience shows the effects that he can have on the passing game and help set Cade Klubnik up for success in the 2024 season.

Additionally, Clemson signed Elyjah Thurmon, who is ranked as the 34th-best offensive line recruit in the country and a four-star prospect according to 247Sports.

Playing behind a solid offensive line in 2024 will help give Cade the confidence he needs to lead Clemson's offense to success.

Playing behind a top offensive line in 2024 will help Cade elevate his completion percentage, which was 63.9% in 2023, ranking 46th in the country. He will also receive support from his receiving and tight end core, which returns three of their top four receiving leaders from the 2023 season.

A full offseason with Tyler Brown, Jake Briningstool, and Troy Stellato will further develop the chemistry between Cade and his support in the passing game.

With a year of starting experience under his belt, Cade has had the whole offseason to develop the necessary parts of his game. With a revamped offensive line under new coach Matt Luke and a dangerous receiving core, he is set up with the tools for success in 2024.
