Clemson returns home on Saturday looking to snap a three-game losing streak, as the No. 21 Tigers will host Boston College.
The three-game skid has seen the Tigers (11-4, 1-3) take a tumble in the NET Rankings, with Brad Brownell's squad currently sitting at No. 29.
Boston College (11-5, 1-3) comes in fresh off a 66-59 road loss to Syracuse. The Eagles have dropped two of their past three games and currently rank No. 85 in the NET.
If the Tigers are going get back on the winning side of things, Brownell knows his team has to be better defensively, particularly on the perimeter. In Wednesday's loss at Virginia Tech, the Hokies hit 11 3-pointers and shot 58% from beyond the arc.
"We couldn't guard at all with (Sean) Pedulla," Brownell said. "Beginning of the game, Chase (Hunter) was just flipped around. (Dillon Hunter) did a much better job at the beginning in the second half. Pick and roll coverage was poor."
Clemson also needs a couple of its guards to find their shot. Joe Girard III and Hunter both have struggled mightily from 3-point land over the past couple of games.
"They're hounding Joe with everybody," Brownell said. "They did a good job of hounding him. I thought Chase had a lot of good looks. He's played better and made some shots lately, but, you know, he's got to make some threes. This is a game sometimes about making and missing. You've got to be opportunistic."
However, for the Tigers, more often that not, it starts and stops with PJ Hall. While the senior big man hit on 38% of his shots from beyond the arc in the loss to the Hokies, he was just 4-of-13 from the floor, and Brownell wants to see his star being a little more aggressive down low.
"I thought PJ knocked down some shots from three," Brownell said. "I thought (Va Tech) did a good job defensively of mixing some things up in terms of some coverage and it was harder to get him the ball inside deep. I think PJ has to work a little harder sometimes in terms of fighting for deeper post touches."
Tipoff is set for 3pm and the game will be televised on the ACC Network.
