The Clemson Tigers officially began fall camp yesterday, Aug. 1. Over the next few weeks, the focus will be on the offensive side of the ball. Here are the three main areas Tigers fans should be focusing on.
Wide Receiver Competition
Clemson hasn’t had a standout playmaker in the receiver room in the last couple of years. However, with the current roster, it could be argued that the Tigers have one of the deepest wide receiver rooms in the country.
The Tigers will have eight receivers competing for playing time in 2024: Tyler Brown, Antonio Williams, T.J. Moore, Bryant Wesco Jr., Noble Johnson, Adam Randall, Troy Stellato, and Ronan Hanafin.
Tyler Brown and Antonio Williams are expected to lead the talented group this season. However, the focus will be on who emerges behind them as major contributors.
While they just arrived on campus, don’t be surprised to see T.J. Moore or Bryant Wesco emerge as the third option. Both players were two of the highest-rated receiving prospects in the 2024 recruiting cycle and will be looking to make an immediate impact.
Wide receivers coach Tyler Grisham has raved about both young players over the offseason and believes they will compete for playing time this season.
Revamped Offensive Line
The team’s offensive success in 2024 will center around the offensive line. With the hiring of new offensive line coach Matt Luke in December, this Clemson offensive line has been completely revamped under the coach with more than 20 years of experience.
Heading into fall camp, everyone is healthy, and Luke believes there are eight players who have a legitimate chance of starting Week 1 against the Georgia Bulldogs on Aug. 31.
Fall camp will be full of competition up front, and all eyes will be on who emerges as the five starters on an offensive line looking to prove a point this season.
Development of Cade Klubnik
In 2023, quarterback Cade Klubnik had 2,844 yards passing, 19 touchdowns, nine interceptions, and a 63.9% completion percentage.
While those numbers do not jump off the board, Clemson fans need to remember that 2023 was just his first full season as the starting quarterback for the Tigers.
With a full offseason of development and a revamped offensive line to protect him, Cade's confidence, as well as the fans' confidence, should be through the roof heading into this upcoming season.
