As the 2024 college football season approaches, the Clemson Tigers find themselves ranked 14th in College Football Network's comprehensive power rankings. Despite a 9-4 record last season, the Tigers are positioned to challenge for the ACC title and a potential spot in the College Football Playoff.

The Tigers are banking on the development of quarterback Cade Klubnik, who enters his second year under offensive coordinator Garrett Riley. Head coach Dabo Swinney, known for his reluctance to heavily use the transfer portal, has put his trust in the returning talent to elevate Clemson back to national prominence.

Defensively, Clemson is fortified by standout players T.J. Parker, Peter Woods, Barrett Carter, and Avieon Terrell. Their performance will be crucial in maintaining the Tigers' reputation for defensive excellence.

In the ACC, several other teams are also making headlines. The Miami Hurricanes, ranked 13th, are set for a resurgence under head coach Mario Cristobal. Leveraging the transfer portal, Miami has brought in talent like Washington State’s Cameron Ward and Oregon State’s Damien Martinez, forming a potent backfield duo. The Hurricanes’ defense is bolstered by EDGE Rueben Bain Jr. and LB Francisco Mauigoa, making them a formidable force in the conference.

The North Carolina State Wolfpack, positioned at 16th, have high expectations with the addition of Coastal Carolina’s Grayson McCall at quarterback. The team’s strong finish last season, winning five of their last six games, has built momentum that could carry them into the upper echelon of the ACC.

The Virginia Tech Hokies, ranked 30th, are another team to watch. With the return of QB Kyron Drones, RB Bhayshul Tuten, and WR Da’Quan Felton, the Hokies’ offense is expected to be dynamic. Their defense, led by EDGE Antwaun Powell-Ryland and new addition DT Aeneas Peebles, will aim to stifle opponents throughout the season.

Meanwhile, the Duke Blue Devils, now under new head coach Manny Diaz, are ranked 71st. The departure of key players like QB Riley Leonard and RB Jordan Waters poses challenges, but Texas’ Maalik Murphy brings potential under center. The Blue Devils will need to rebuild and adapt to stay competitive in the ACC.

As the season unfolds, Clemson and its ACC counterparts will be under the microscope, each aiming to rise in the rankings and secure a spot in the expanded College Football Playoff.
