The Tigers wrapped up their season only 24 days ago, but it is never too early to look ahead to spring practice. Today, we conclude a series looking at the players for the 2024 Clemson Tigers that we believe will have an immediate impact on the Tigers this spring, and hopefully into the fall.

Today we look at the seniors:

Zach:

Since I am the first to go, I will take the obvious choice--Phil Mafah.

The Tiger senior earned the starting job following his breakout game against Notre Dame, and now enters the 2024 season as the Tigers' unquestioned starter after the departure of Will Shipley to the NFL.

Mafah enters 2024 having recorded 345 rushing attempts for 1,772 yards and 20 touchdowns as well as 37 receptions for 206 yards in 984 career snaps over 36 games (seven starts) ... is also 1-for-2 passing for 19 yards in his career ... combined with Will Shipley in 2023 to form only the seventh Clemson running back duo to each eclipse 750 rushing yards in a single season since 1948, Clemson’s first pair of backs to do so since “Thunder and Lightning” James Davis and C.J. Spiller in 2007 ... recorded one of the most memorable bowl game performances in school history, recording a Clemson bowl record four rushing touchdowns in the 2023 Gator Bowl against Kentucky including three fourth-quarter scores in a comeback victory.

Jason:

With Tyler Davis and Ruke Orhorhoro now off to the NFL, someone is going to have to step up on the interior of the defensive line and fill that void alongside Peter Woods. Enter DeMonte Capehart. A member of Clemson's 2020 recruiting class, Capehart has patiently waited his turn. Instead of doing what many of today's players do and transfer out, he chose to stay the course and bide his time. That time is now.

Capehart logged 179 snaps in 2023, appearing in 12 games. When he was on the field, he was hard to handle, registering nine QB pressures, which was good for second-most among all the DTs. At 6-foot-5, 320-pounds, Capehart can not only get after the QB, but he can also stuff the run. Expect him to be a big part of the Tigers' defensive front next season.
