Georgia's Trevor Etienne Suspended for Season Opener Against Clemson (Football)

ATHENS, Ga — Georgia running back Trevor Etienne will miss Saturday’s highly anticipated season opener against Clemson, according to sources. The suspension follows a DUI charge from March, which was later dismissed as part of a plea deal. The news was first reported by On3's Matt Zenitz.

Etienne, a Florida transfer, was expected to be a key contributor for the Bulldogs this season. His absence leaves a significant hole in Georgia’s backfield as they face off against the Tigers.

Georgia's injury report for Week 1 also lists several other players with varying statuses. Defensive lineman Warren Brinson and offensive lineman Jared Wilson are both probable to play despite Achilles issues. Wide receiver Colbie Young and linebacker Chaz Chambliss, both dealing with hamstring injuries, are also listed as probable. Linebacker Smael Mondon, who is reportedly facing a possible suspension, is questionable for the game, as are wide receiver Sacovie White and offensive lineman Bo Hughley, who may also be dealing with suspensions.

Several players have been ruled out entirely for the Clemson matchup, including defensive lineman Xzavier McLeod (unspecified), running back Roderick Robinson (toe), defensive lineman Jordan Hall (leg), defensive back Chris Peal (shoulder), and offensive lineman Marcus Harrison (back).
