Klubnik Thinks Tigers Have Ingredients to Have Special Season (Football)

CHARLOTTE- Cade Klubnik might be one of the most competitive players in the Clemson locker room.

Entering his sophomore season, and first as the Tigers' full-time starting quarterback, Klubnik is not only laser-focused on the upcoming season, but he is also taking a very even-keeled approach. When talking about the 2023 schedule at the ACC Kickoff, Klubnik sounded more like a season-veteran, as opposed to a quarterback who has made just two career starts.

"I am looking forward to every opponent we have this year," Klubnik said. "In this league we have a lot of really good teams. A lot of really good defenses. It is going to be fun. We have a lot of great games on our schedule."

The Tigers are coming off a second consecutive three loss season, including a one-point loss to rival South Carolina and a one-sided defeat at the hands of Notre Dame in South Bend. Both of those teams are once again on the schedule in 2023. However, Klubnik doesn't have any revenge on his mind and is putting no extra weight on either of those games.

"I want to beat every team," Klubnik said. "If I want to beat one team more, then that means I don't want to beat another team. So I want to beat every team."

With Garrett Riley taking over an offense that has failed to live up to expectations in each of the past two seasons, big things are expected from the Tigers in 2023. Behind his explosive offense, Riley led TCU to an appearance in the national title game a year ago, his only season with the Horned Frogs, and the hope is he brings some of that success to Clemson.

Despite some of the offseason changes on the offensive side of the ball, Klubnik feels like the Tigers have all the ingredients needed to have a special kind of season.

"100-percent, 100-percent," Klubnik said. "I think we have even more ingredients. It's what we have been doing all offseason. It is a different work ethic, it is a different mentality. It's a grittiness, it is a want to. It doesn't matter who is in our way, let's go beat them. It isn't a cockiness, it is a confidence."
