NFL commissioner Roger Goodell reinstated former Clemson receiver Martavis Bryant on Saturday following a five-year suspension, according to reports.
NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero said NFL teams are showing interest in Bryant. who has been training for a return to the league.
Bryant had issues with the league's substance abuse policies that led to the suspension and hasn't played since 2018. Why Goodell upheld a suspension for that long or why he reinstated Bryant now is unknown.
Bryant played in 37 games for the Tigers from 2011-2013, catching 61 passes for 1,354 yards and 13 touchdowns before being selected in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Bryant played two seasons there before being suspended in 2016 for violating the league's substance abuse policy. He spent one more year with the Steelers in 2017 before playing for the Raiders in 2018. He was suspended in December of that season for violating the terms of his reinstatement in 2017.
Bryant has 145 career receptions for 2,183 yards and 17 touchdowns in the NFL.
Bryant applied for reinstatement to the NFL in 2019, but that didn't happen until this week. Since his suspension, he spent time in the CFL and the XFL.
