One game into his senior season and Clemson commit Sammy Brown continues to rack up the accolades.
The 5-star LB is the top-rated prospect in Clemson's 2024 recruiting class. The 6-foot-2, 230-pound recruit committed to the Tigers back in June after the big official visit weekend, choosing Clemson over the likes of Georgia and Tennessee.
Just two days after committing, Brown was named MaxPreps Male National Athlete of the Year. Since then, he has been named a Preseason All-American by MaxPreps, preseason All-State for Class 5A by the Atlanta Journal Constitution, and earned superlatives of ‘Best Player’ and ‘Most Highly Recruited’ for Class 5A by the publication.
Most recently, 247 Sports' Andrew Ivins tabbed Brown as the "freakiest" recruit in the 2024 class. Here is what Ivins had to say about the elite-level prospect.
When asking college contacts and personnel departments around the country about the biggest "freaks" in the class of 2024 one name continued to come up: Sammy Brown.
We might be only three years into this exercise, but never before have we come across a prospect with a profile like Brown — and, honestly, it might never happen again.
A player like Brown is why we wanted to create this list. He's a one-of-a-kind athlete with one-of-a-kind athletic markers, including:
- A 405-pound power clean
- A 600-pound back squat
- A 395-pound bench press
- A 10.70-second 100-meter dash
- A 23-foot, 3-inch long jump
- A 39.5-inch vertical jump
- A perfect 5.0 PAI score from Tracking Football
While Brown was recruited to play on the defensive side of the ball, his versatility was on full display last week as he scored four touchdowns in Jefferson's season opening win.

While no other current Clemson commits ranked inside of the Top 50, one uncommitted target did, as 4-star LB Bradley Shaw came in at No. 48. Shaw picked up his offer at the end of July after attending the All In Cookout. Ivins offered this up about the talented LB out of the state of Alabama.
Hoover (Ala.) linebacker Bradley Shaw is one of the more decorated throwers on the list — which is a bit surprising, seeing that he's only 6-foot-1, 215 pounds. But that probably speaks to the type of level that Shaw is, as he's freaky explosive in the legs.
Shaw won an Alabama 7A title in the discus as a sophomore and followed that up with a third-place finish as a junior. He also has a pair of silver medals from the shot-put hanging on the wall.
Alabama, Auburn, Clemson and Notre Dame are all courting Shaw.
