CHARLOTTE — ACC Network analyst and former Clemson offensive lineman Eric Mac Lain shared his thoughts with All Clemson Tigers.com on the upcoming season for the Tigers from the ACC Kickoff on Tuesday.
Mac Lain is super excited for the Tigers offensively this year, with the addition of new offensive coordinator Garrett Riley from TCU and first-year starter Cade Klubnick at quarterback.
“We saw the things that he was able to do and really, I think the future is bright there” said Mac Lain on the offensive coaching skills from Riley. “I think Clemson fans are going to see that offensive style that I played and that we’re used to seeing.
“Ultimately, we will get back to that Promise Land and get back in the playoffs.”
Mac Lain, who was an All-ACC guard at Clemson from 2011-’15, said it is pretty fun to watch Clemson from the sidelines as an analyst, having once been a part of the program. He is excited to visit Clemson the third week of the regular season as the ACCN takes its show on the road.
“Just to see the growth and development, it is something. I thought it could happen, but it has been incredible to watch, even from afar you feel like you're a part of it,” he said.
Mac Lain is originally from Northern Indiana, and said he’s excited to see the Notre Dame Fighting Irish come to Death Valley.
The last time the Irish came to Clemson, Mac Lain was the starting right guard in the Tigers’ 24-22 victory. Last year, Notre Dame beat up the Tigers in South Bend.
“It’s a revenge game for the Tigers, they beat us down pretty good last year, so I can’t wait to see that game and we should return the favor.”
