CLEMSON—Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney met with the media early Sunday morning to recap the Tigers’ 48-14 win over the Florida Atlantic Owls Saturday night.
Here is what he said:
- “We’re a hard team to beat when we tie the turnover margin. We’re a really, really hard team to beat when we win it.”
- We got done what we needed to get done… we got better.”
- “Offensively, We rolled”
- “Cade had his best game, and we had zero turnovers for the first time this year”
- “We didn’t play well defensively when we played a lot of young guys”
- On DB Khalil Barnes: “He’s a baller. He’s a competitive dude man. That guy competes every single day.”
- Klubnik is progressing: “He knows when to sit in the pocket, when to manage the game, when to run”
- “When we’re even in the turnover margin we’re hard to beat, when we win the turnover margin we’re really hard to beat”
- “When we don’t give up a sack we usually win the game”
- “I’d put Tink right there with Brown and Barnes, I know y’all haven’t seen him yet”
- On Tyler Brown: “He’s a heck of a little player. Super excited we got him”
- On Cole Turner’s injury during the FAU game: “I hate losing Cole. I don’t know what we’re dealing with there. Have to wait and see.”
- “We have no chance against Florida State if we don’t win the turnover margin. Zero chance. We can barely beat anybody when we do that.”
- “pretty optimistic” about starting DB Andrew Mukuba and RG Walker Parks playing against Florida State
- On the altercation between Will Shipley and RBs coach CJ Spiller: “They got into it? Oh boy. I’ll find out. I’m sure they’ll be fine. Coach Spiller, he can handle it.”
