2024 QB Updates Recruitment After Recent Visit From Clemson OC Garrett Riley (Recruiting)

Clemson is still looking for its next quarterback target in the 2024 recruiting class and Ethan Grunkemeyer has quickly become a name to know when it comes to the search.

Having already missed on blue-chip prospects DJ Lagway, Walker White, Jadyn Davis and Air Noland, the Tigers are currently in the process of selecting their next target. The 3-star Grunkemeyer (Olentangy, Lewis Center, Oh) drew a visit from offensive coordinator Garrett Riley last week and could potentially be that guy.

"I really like what coach Riley has said about their process, program and development and the relationship I’m building with him as this process goes on," Grunkemeyer told All Clemson Tigers.

Grunkemeyer had the opportunity to show off his arm in front of Riley and said the offensive coordinator liked what he saw.

"I threw pretty well for him last week," he said. "He seemed to really like my arm and what he saw when talking with him afterwards."

However, there is one thing working against the Tigers when it comes to Grunkemeyer. He wants to be committed by the end of the month and still has yet to pick up an offer from Clemson. A visit to campus would have to take place before that could happen, and Grunkemeyer is hopeful that one comes to fruition.

"Still in the process of lining one up later this month," Grunkemeyer said of a possible visit. "Timeline still stays pretty solid for the end of the month."

Grunkemeyer is visiting Penn State this weekend and as of right now that is the only visit on the books. When asked if he thought he would be able to get to Clemson before making a decision, he said "that's the plan."

Between now and when he announces, he is focused on continuing to build relationships with the coaches that are currently recruiting him and he is looking for a school that can best develop him, on and off the field.

"I’m looking for a place that can really develop me as a player and a person," Grunkemeyer said. I’m also looking for a coaching staff I can develop a good relationship with."
