Clemson's quarterback of the future made his return to campus for last weekend's Elite Retreat.
4-star Blake Hebert (Brunswick, Greenwich, CT) has now made two visits since committing last summer, and each trip back just reinforces the fact that the blue-chip talent made the right decision. It's that culture inside the program that has always attracted the talented signal caller.
"It's like a family. Really. It's kind of the only way to put it," Hebert told All Clemson Tigers. "Everybody cares for each other. Every time I step in the building, everybody's always smiling, always happy. The culture is super, super friendly, but also very motivated and driven."
And now he is hoping to help other potential targets see what he sees in the program.
"Clemson stood out like crazy," he said. "I'm not gonna name any names, but I'd gone other places where I just kind of felt like they were there for football. Then they would leave and go back to the dorms and then come back and it was all about football. At Clemson, it's about how are you doing in school? How are you doing off the field and just in life? So that's that's kind of the biggest difference for me. It's not just about football there. I mean they keep football obviously, as a very important part but it's not that it's always the main thing."
For Hebert, what might have stood out the most about last weekend's visit was the emphasis placed on addressing the offensive line, with the Tigers coming away with two new commitments from 4-stars Brayden Jacobs and Jaylan Beckley. They join 4-star Easton Ware, who committed last year.
As a quarterback, Hebert loves what is tranpsiring, and he's confident that Clemson isn't quite yet done adding blue chip talent up front.
"We got three studs so far, and we're looking for one or two more," Hebert said. "If we can get a guy like David (Sanders), or a guy like Mason (Short) or a guy like Mal (Waldrep), that would be huge. The three guys we have already are studs so if we can add one or two more, that would be the ideal for us."
And Hebert is doing his part. He is very active on social media and behind the scenes, as he is doing everything he can to help the coaching staff add more key pieces to a 2025 recruiting class that currently ranks No. 2 in the country.
"That's that's kind of my goal," Hebert said. "I want to get as many guys as we can on board so I do what I can to help that train move along."
