CLEMSON- The No. 25 Clemson Tigers held Charleston Southern to just 12 rushing yards in a dominating 66-17 win and freshman T.J. Parker met with the media, noting that he feels like this is just the beginning of a turnaround for Wes Goodwin's defense.
What We Heard
- This was a statement game for us," the freshman said. "I feel like we executed well." Although Parker said like always, there are still some things that need to be cleaned up. "Today we had a great day."
- When asked what that statement was, Parker replied, "Today was a game to let people know we aren't going nowhere. This defense is going to be 100% one of the best in the country. And to let everybody know, put everyone on notice."
- The Tigers went into this week with a 'chip" on their shoulders. Parker said the defense felt better prepared and he feels like the group became a unit. "We knew what we had to do."
- Parker believed the energy was "definitely" different for this game compared to the Labor Day night loss to Duke. "Coach challenges us to bring more energy."
- "Cade (Klubnik) did a great job of settling down the offense." Parker said going into the locker room at halftime, they had to just keep playing. Parker believes the offense took a big step forward on Saturday.
- Parker said he noticed a lot of the leaders starting to step up more than they had been this past week. Said they were demanding guys stay late and put in extra work.
- Playing in front of the home crowd also helped play a part in creating a spark, accoring to Parker.
