Cade Klubnik was thrilled to see the offense play "a heck of a game."

Clemson's starting quarterback knew he and his teammates needed a strong, improving performance like they one they got in a 48-14 win over Florida Atlantic on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

It was imperative to build confidence, especially with what's coming. The Tigers take on the third-ranked Florida State Seminoles at noon on Sept. 23 in one of the most pivotal matchups of the ACC season.

Obviously, it's going to be a heck of a game," said Klubnik, who threw three touchdown passes, rushed for another score and didn't turn the ball over in a game for the first time this season. "They've got a great team. Honestly just going to enjoy this game for 24 hours and then on to the next. I'm excited."

  • Klubnik praised the offensive line for being able to handle the "funky stuff" FAU was doing up front.
  • On playing in control the whole game: "I just felt like we looked like us.
  • Klubnik on freshman WR Tyler Brown, who had two TD catches: A lot of energy, electric, fast, great route-runnner, ball is in there air he goes and gets it. "He's a guy I can depend on."
  • Klubnik was especially proud of how Brown responded from a muffed punt, more so than even the touchdowns.
  • On the Memorial Stadium atmosphere: Something about Death Valley at night. It's beautiful. Electric and it's fun.
  • Klubnik was impressed with Hunter Helms leading the offense on an 80-yard drive in the fourth quarter.
  • On meeting actor Mark Wahlberg, who hung out in Clemson all weekend visiting his daughter, who's a student, and speaking to the football team: "I had to get a picture with him.
